Salford Overview

The latest Active Lives data shows that there has been a significant decline in activity levels across Salford in the last 12 months. 70.2% of adults in Salford are now moving (active and fairly active), this equates to 145,000 adults. Since Active Lives launched, November 2015-16, the inactivity rate has decreased by 1.3%, meanwhile in Greater Manchester the rate has increased by 2.6%.

When this latest release is combined with activity data on children and young people, 164,600 Salford residents are moving.

Demographic data

	The inactivity gender gap in Salford is 4.2% Since November 15/16 the inactivity gender gap has increased by 1.6%. This decrease has been driven by a larger decrease in inactivity amongst men (-2.4%) than women (-0.9%). Learn more about activity levels related to gender here
	The inactivity socio-economic gap in Salford is 25.3% Since November 15/16 the inactivity socio-economic gap has increased by 1.5%. This change is due to a decrease in inactivity amongst higher social groups, NS-SEC 1-2, (-0.9%) and an increase in inactivity amongst lower social groups, NS-SEC 6-8 (+0.5%). 	The inactivity disability gap in Salford is 21.5% Since November 15/16 the inactivity disability gap has decreased by 2.1%. This change is a result of a larger decrease in inactivity amongst those with a long term limiting disability (-3.7%) than those with no long term limiting disability (-1.6%). 	The inactivity age gap in Salford is 36.0% Since November 15/16 the inactivity age gap has decreased by 2.8%. This change is due to a larger decrease in inactivity amongst over 75's (-6.9%) than in 16 to 34 year olds (-4.2%). Learn more about activity levels related to age here
