The latest Active Lives results published by Sport England shows that 74.9% of adults in Salford are active for at least 30 minutes a week, this equates to 154,500 adults moving. This is an increase of 1,100 from the survey 12 months ago.
The latest Active Lives Release, May 2019/20, has seen an increase (0.7%) in the inactive population in Salford in the last 12 months. Salford has seen the percentage of people moving, active for at least 30 minutes a week, increase by 5.9% since Active Lives began (November 2015/16) in comparison Greater Manchester as a whole has increased the moving population by 0.5% in the same time period.
When this latest release is combined with activity data on children and young people, 175,400 Salford residents are moving.

The largest inactivity gap amongst adults in Salford is the age gap with a 35.3% gap, the smallest is the gender gap with a 1.6% gap.
The inactivity gender gap in Salford is 1.6%. This decrease has been driven by a decrease in inactivity amongst women (-6.7%) at a faster rate than the decrease amongst men (-5.6%).
The inactivity socio-economic gap in Salford is 18.5%. This change is due to a large decrease in inactivity amongst lower social groups (-9.1%) than in higher social groups (-3.7%).
The inactivity age gap in Salford is 35.3%. This change is due to a larger decrease in inactivity amongst over 75's (-8.9%) than in 16 to 34 year olds (-5.4%).
The inactivity disability gap in Salford is 23.1%. This small change is a result of a larger decrease in inactivity amongst those with a long term limiting disability (-6.0%) than those with no long term limiting disability (-5.4%).
Overall, the highest levels of inactivity in Salford are amongst the over 75's (50.9%), those with long term limiting disabilities (43.9%) and Other ethnic backgrounds (37.7%). The lowest levels of inactivity are amongst 16 to 34 year olds (15.7%), higher social groups (16.0%) and those working full and part time (22.6%).
