This year The Big Help Out will take place on Friday 7th June - Sunday 9th June.
The objective of The Big Help Out is to raise awareness of volunteering throughout the UK and provide opportunities for people to experience volunteering and make a difference in their communities.
This year, an app has launched, organisations can upload opportunities and the public can register for them. Just like last year, there will be volunteering opportunities to suit helping hands of all shapes and sizes, the categories are;
From a survey of people who are planning to volunteer for the Big Help Out for the first time, 1 in 5 people are interested in sporting opportunities, which suggests a fantastic opportunity for sports and physical activity clubs, groups and organisations to get involved and recruit new volunteers through the campaign.
In an update from last year’s campaign, sport is its own category for volunteering this year on the Big Help Out app, meaning at the click of a button users can see all the diversity sporting groups have to offer, and more easily find sporting opportunities. There’s also improved features for clubs and national or regional bodies to upload their opportunities to the app.
