GM Walking Voice Event: Bee Network Engagement
Wednesday 11th September 2019, 9:30am - 12:30pm
Infrastructure plans for connecting local communities have been developed and are now out for comment. Find out why, how and have your say.
The GM Walking Voice are hosting this event to provide an opportunity for meaningful input to the GM Bee Network for a range of stakeholders. This will be an opportunity for people with an interest in increasing levels of walking to hear about the plans and provide some feedback from a walking perspective.
Those attending will hear about the latest version of the Bee Network map and the principles behind the network across Greater Manchester. Attendees will also have the opportunity to take part in workshops exploring different aspects of the plans.
This event will allow GM Walking Voice to gather feedback on the plans and to encourage and enable those attending to spread the word on the considerations required for quality connecting routes and public realm that will encourage widespread use by local communities.
This event is open for anyone with an interest in enabling people to walk more in their local community, whether that be to the park, to work, to school or for the simple enjoyment of walking.

On 1st August 2019, we hosted a Local Pilot partner engagement event in Manchester. The aim of the event was to share the progress of the pilot over the last 12 months, and to start to facilitate conversations around how partners could start to get involved. Presentations were delivered by Kate Ahmadi-Khattir who outlined the progress from a national perspective, Richard Davis-Boreham who updated the Greater Manchester picture and Tom Haworth who gave an insight into the approach in Trafford. All of these presentations can be found on our YouTube channel here. A wide range of partners attended including; NGB’s, housing providers, VCSE and colleagues from the healthcare sector. A follow up event is scheduled for October.
