Across Greater Manchester, partners are working together to develop an inclusive, whole system approach to enable active lives for all, as set out in the new GM Moving in Action strategy.

In Greater Manchester, 46.1% of adults with a long-term limiting condition are inactive, compared to 26.7% of adults without – a difference of 19.4%. We know that inequality gaps won’t close unless we take an intentional and targeted approach to address the inequalities that stand in the way of some people participating in physical activity, sport and an active life.

Physical activity partners and people with lived experience came together during the strategy development process to develop a shared approach to enable disabled people in Greater Manchester to have equal opportunities to be active. Together they explored the barriers and enablers to change, and developed a draft ‘Commitment to Inclusion’, to help move this agenda forward together.

We now want to share this draft commitment and work together to shape it and explore what it means in action. Join us on 4th October at the GM Moving in Action: Commitment to Inclusion Workshop to join in and play your part in creating active lives for all.
