Active Tameside's Sport and Physical Activity Awards 2022

The Active Tameside Sport & Physical Activity Awards returned for 2022 on Friday 30th September. Hosted across Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, the ceremony brought together groups and individuals from all corners of Tameside’s sports and physical activity community to celebrate their outstanding achievements from the past year.

Ashton Pumas Girls Football Club were the big winners as they picked up two prizes as the Active Tameside Sport & Physical Activity Awards returned for 2022 on Friday (30 September).

In addition to Club/Group of the Year, Ashton Pumas' secretary and coach, Laura Day, won the Alex Williams Volunteer of the Year Award at the online ceremony hosted across Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.

The ceremony brought together groups and individuals from all corners of Tameside’s sports and physical activity community to celebrate their outstanding achievements from the past year.

There were also celebrations for Tameside Netball Club as coach Jane Chisnall picked up Unsung Hero of the Year Award while Kiera Byland won Coach of the Year for her work with Mossley Cycle Racing Team.

Your Well-being Company and Micklehurst All Saints CE Primary School were also victorious in addition to Rory Hand, Daniel Makin and Adie Lock who all picked up individual awards.

The awards were opened by Active Tameside’s Active Champion, professional boxer and Commonwealth Champion, Stacey Copeland, whose inspirational speech highlighted the importance of physical activity in making a positive difference and the impact of those behind the scenes who make this a possibility.

Following an overwhelming number of nominations, winners were chosen from nine categories to recognise their contributions to the community. The full list of winners is available below.
