Place Partners is a Sport England funded programme that invests in a behaviour change approach in a place to enable sustainable change and gain valuable learnings that can be shared across the country.
From July 2018, Trafford utilised research and insight to create their initial 12-month plan, starting from April 2019; this can be viewed here.
Trafford's place partner work has focused on the areas of Partington and Carrington. Since its inception the place-based approach undertaken in Partington has started to influence systems across the borough, and has brought more investment into Partington including Partington’s successful Levelling Up bid.
Some of the most recent work within Partington has included a collaboration with Calisseum, who have been running well-being initiatives at Partington Sport Village and Seymour Park.
This work has included enraging with a number of local organisations and charities to ensure sessions are addressing both social and health inequalities, and provide opportunities for personal development, social interaction and cohesion, and self-expression through the programme.
Episode nine of the GM Moving podcast focused on Trafford and the effect of the place partner work. Eve is joined by Tom Haworth, Trafford Council, and Richard, GM Moving, to talk about how they are making connections, building relationships, and creating energy for change to tackle gaps in people's activity levels across different socioeconomic groups in Trafford.
