The inactive proportion has seen an increase in the last 12 months (+0.8%), is only just above baseline (+0.9%), but is higher than pre-pandemic levels (+4.1%).
Prior to the pandemic (2018-19) inactivity was decreasing across most demographic groups, except 16-34 years and middle socio-economic groups (NS SEC 3-5).
In the last 12 months inactivity has increased for those from higher (NS SEC 1-2) and student or other (NS SEC 9) socio-economic groups, females, those aged 16-34, 35-54 and 75+ years.
