Prior to the pandemic, Stockport was showing increasing inactivity levels rather than reduction as in other parts of GM.
A number of demographics in line with the overall trend were increasing in inactivity prior to the pandemic, except those with a long-term health condition or disability (LTHC), NS SEC 1-2 and 3-5 groups, 35-74 years.
16-34 years in particular were showing an increase in inactivity prior to the pandemic. Most have seen a decrease in the last 12 months, except 55-74 years, NS SEC 1-2 and 6-8 groups.
Those with a LTHC were impacted most by the pandemic and are more inactive than those aged 75+ in Stockport.
Those from NS SEC 6-8 groups are more inactive in Stockport than GM. Those aged 55-74 years have seen a gradual increase since the pandemic.
The inactive population has seen a small increase in the last 12 months (+0.1%), is above baseline (+1.7%) and pre-pandemic levels (+0.6%).
