The latest Active Lives results published by Sport England shows that 72.2% of adults in Bolton are active for at least 30 minutes a week, this equates to 162,100 adults moving. This is an increase of 2,300 from 12 months ago.
The latest results continue the positive average trend in Bolton where there has been an increase of 1.3% in the number of adults moving (active and fairly active) since Active Lives began in November 2015-16. This is a greater increase than the national average of 1.0% however it remains below the Greater Manchester increase of 2.3%.

Since the first Active Lives release, (November 2015-16), Bolton has seen a decrease in inactivity across the majority of cohorts, the exceptions being males, 16-34 year olds, those with a disability, and medium income categories. The largest decreases in inactivity have been amongst over 75’s, a 7.6% decrease, 55-74 year olds, a 7.0% decrease, and females, a 4.5% decrease.
