Primary Summer School Games

The Greater Manchester Primary Summer School Games will see students participate in nine events across activities.

Golf

Competition: Year 3/4 and Year 5/6
Event type: Year 3/4 Excel and Year 5/6 Bee Proud
Maximum squad size: 10

In the Year 3/4 Excel competition teams from each of the ten boroughs of Greater Manchester will compete to be crowned the Greater Manchester champion. Meanwhile in the Year 5/6 Bee Proud competition children will try their hand at a number of golf activity stations to develop the skills in a fun environment.

Rounders

Competition: Year 5/6
Event type: Excel
Maximum squad: 15

This competition will see the winners from the 10 boroughs of Greater Manchester take part in an event which will see the Greater Manchester champion crowned.

New Age Kurling

Competition: Year 5/6
Event type: SEND
Maximum squad: 5

A game of skill and teamwork the New Age Kurling competition will see boys and girls work together to get their stones closest to the centre target.

Rugby League

Competition: Year 5/6 Tag
Event type: Bee Proud
Maximum squad: 12

This event will see children work to achieve their personal best across a number of rugby league themed activity stations.

Tennis

Competition: Year 3/4
Event type: Bee Proud
Maximum squad: 4

In this Bee Proud event children will work on improving a variety of tennis skills throughout the day with participants seeing their improvements recognised.

Cricket

Competition: Year 4/5
Event type: Bee Proud
Maximum squad: 10

Teams will get the chance to try their hand at various cricket themed stations and develop their skills throughout the day.

Hockey

Competition: Year 3/4 Quicksticks
Event type: Bee Proud
Maximum squad: 6

Quicksticks provides an introduction to hockey using a larger, lighter ball and children will have the opportunity to try their hand at both individual and team challenges.

Multiskills

Competition: KS1 Introduction to School Games
Event type: Bee Proud
Maximum squad: 10

This event will provide year 1 and year 2 students with an introduction to the School Games through a variety of activity stations covering a number of skills and sports.
