Two years ago,  Mind set up a North West Mind Network to support people to access positive mental health in sport and physical activity. Merseyside Sport Foundation who lead the network have been busy exploring ways to connect with clubs and  to ensure that support is available to clubs, coaches, people and communities to look after each other during the pandemic.

Clubs play a key role in tackling key health inequality levels in communities and we have seen a great response from clubs wanting to support mental health amongst their participants and community. We are encouraging people to sign up to the network for free and continue to build on the progress that has been established over the last two years.

Did you know?

According to active lives...

  • Active adults are more likely than inactive adults to have felt happy the previous day (7.2/10 v. 6.6/10)
  • Active adults recorded higher levels of life satisfaction than their inactive peers (7.2/10 v 6.6/10)
  • Active adults are more likely to feel that the things they do in their life are worthwhile compared to those who are inactive (7.4/10 v. 6.9/10)
  • Active adults have lower rates of anxiety than inactive adults (3.5/10 v. 3.6/10)

More information on the impact of physical activity on mental wellbeing, individual development, and social and community development can be found here.
