Would you like to become a swimming teacher? The academy gives aspiring teachers the opportunity to receive part-funded training, mentoring, and be matched with an employer.

Apply now to start your journey to becoming a swimming teacher!

The academy gives trainee teachers the chance to embark on a career as a swimming teacher for only £79, compared to the usual cost of over £1,000. Successful applicants who join the academy will complete their Swim England Level 1 Swimming Assistant (Teaching) and Level 2 Teaching Swimming qualifications.

We support trainees through their training journey with membership and free access to our introduction to swimming strokes online CPDs. In between the courses, there is a period of volunteering with a potential employer to gain practical experience. Trainees also benefit from CPDs to help them develop as well as getting expert advice and support from a mentor to ensure they have the necessary experience for the role and are ready to hit the poolside well equipt to teach.

Teaching Swimming is an active and rewarding role. Work hours are generally part-time; 3:30 pm to 7:00 pm weekdays, and weekends from 8:00 am – 4.00 pm. For these roles, there may be an opportunity to work across leisure centres in the Trafford area. Once qualified successful trainees will be employed as swimming teachers by Trafford Leisure on a casual or part-time basis.

Academy Itinerary Applications close on 5th January and those shortlisted will be interviewed on 13th January 2020. There will be an informal meet and greet at the end of January where you will meet current swimming teachers and members of the Trafford Leisure team.

Course dates: 17th to 20th February 2020 – Swim England Level 1 Swimming Assistant (Teaching) course at Stretford Leisure Centre. 6th to 9th and 14th to 17th April 2020 – Swim England Level 2 Teaching Swimming course at Stretford Leisure Centre.
