GM Moving working alongside GM Active, have developed an online resource to support the 6,500 people that are currently employed across Greater Manchester’s leisure trusts, as they pivot towards a new way of working as a result of the Covid 19 pandemic.

Training resources have been developed for operational staff, which will support in three key ways:

  1. Deliver a bespoke workforce training programme to support and enable a transformation in the culture, knowledge, skills and behaviors of GM Active staff to address the challenge of inactivity.
  2. Establish a GM level framework for instructors supporting people with, or at risk of, long-term health conditions.
  3. Establish a tailored bespoke Healthy Conversations (Making Every Contact Count) programme, which will help GM Active staff understand their role and their importance in the customer journey.

Resources have also been developed to deliver a leadership programme which aims to bolster the knowledge and understanding of the GM Active ‘General Manager’ workforce to meet the demands of their role and the changing needs of the diverse communities across Greater Manchester. It will also ensure that GM Active staff are fully equipped with the skills, confidence and empathy to deliver and lead on the new vision for wellbeing and people’s health.

Through this work, we want to inspire and empower the GM Active workforce to lead their teams and places to effect positive change in their local areas and help people across Greater Manchester live healthier, happier, and more fulfilled lives.
