Secondary Summer School Games

The Greater Manchester Secondary Summer School Games will see students from all ten boroughs of Greater Manchester participate in six competitions in five sports.

Athletics

Competition: Year 7 Quadkids
Event type: Excel
Maximum squad size: 10

 

Young people will compete in four events, two track and two field, with the top four male and female athletes in each event scoring points for their team.

Boccia

Competition: Year 7/8/9
Event type: SEND
Maximum squad size: 5

 

A sport requiring both skill and subtlety teams will work to get their balls closest to the jack. 

Dodgeball

Competition: Year 8 Girls and Boys
Event type: Excel
Maximum squad size: 8

 

The winning girls and boys teams from each of the 10 boroughs of Greater Manchester will get the chance to compete for the title of Greater Manchester champion.

New Age Kurling

Competition: Year 7/8/9
Event type: SEND
Maximum squad size: 5

 

Students will work as a team in order to get their stones closest to the target whilst knocking their opponents stones away from the target.

Ultimate Frisbee

Competition: Year 9/10
Event type: Values
Maximum squad size: 8

 

Teams will score each other using the Spirit Scorecard to determine the winner, thus recognising those teams displaying the School Games values as well as their ability to score points.
