The work of a Pool Lifeguard

Pool Lifeguards are responsible for overseeing the safety of all pool users and provide a vitally important public service. Lifeguards are trained in Poolside Rescue, First Aid and Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). Pool Lifeguards have to work in hot, humid and noisy environments and need to be able to work as part of a team, engage with members of the public to prevents accidents and ensure bather safety.

The work of a Lifeguard offers great flexibility and can often select the hours of work that best suit them, either on a casual or contracted basis. Experienced Lifeguards often to on the complete their Beach Lifeguard Qualification and work abroad.

STA Pool Lifeguard

The STA Pool Lifeguard Qualification is widely recognized as the professional benchmark in the leisure industry and will provide you with the opportunity for employment at most UK Swimming Pools. The qualification also has widespread international recognition.

The STA Pool Lifeguard Qualification is awarded upon successful completion of the course and is valid for a period of 2 years. The candidate must attend the entire course and pass the assessment to be awarded the STA Pool Lifeguard Qualification.

The courses will take place during half term breaks during the school holidays, and you will be trained on all aspects of life guarding. The assessment will take place on the last day and will take approximately 4 hours.

What’s involved in the Training?

The STA Pool Lifeguard course is intensive and rigorous, you will undertake a combination of theory and practical work and be trained to carry our CPR, First Aid and given sufficient training to competently manage a range of pools
